Tournament Recap: American Fishing Tour Division 72
The competition was fierce at the American Fishing Tour (AFT) Division 72 tournament held on February 28, 2026, at Lake Oconee. Among a field of 50 skilled anglers, Aaron E. Batson delivered a standout performance, securing a 3rd place finish in what turned out to be a true "battle of ounces."
Batson brought a solid five-bass limit to the scales, weighing in at 16.15 pounds. His bag was anchored by a beautiful 4.81-pound kicker, a fish that proved vital in keeping him at the top of the leaderboard. For his efforts, Aaron walked away with $288 in prize money and earned 198 points toward the Divisional Angler of the Year standings.
The leaderboard was incredibly tight at the top; Batson finished less than a pound behind the winner, Josh George (16.86 lbs), and only a fraction of a pound behind runner-up Jerry Jones (16.36 lbs). In a field where the top four anglers were all separated by less than a pound, Batson’s consistency and ability to find a quality "big fish" made all the difference.
The Breakdown for Aaron Batson:
- Place: 3rd
- Fish: 5 (Full Limit)
- Big Bass: 4.81 lbs
- Total Weight: 16.15 lbs
- Points Earned: 198
This event was part of the ABA Georgia Central Division 72 circuit, which continues to provide a great platform for local weekend anglers to showcase their skills.
Congratulations to Aaron on a fantastic showing! We look forward to seeing if he can carry this momentum into the next event.
